Learning Objectives:
At the end of the presentation, participants will be able to:
- Perform a systematic examination of the hand and wrist for thorough evaluation of hand and wrist injuries.
- Explain the importance of a thorough case history in the evaluation of a hand or wrist injury.
- Perform a physical evaluation, including visual observation/inspection and palpation, of a hand or wrist injury to assist with evaluation and treatment planning.
- Verbalize which standardized and non-standardized evaluation components (goniometry, MMT, provocative testing, etc.) are important components of a hand or wrist evaluation.
- Identify the pathophysiology behind tendinopathies.
- Differentiate between operative and nonoperative treatment approaches to management of tendinopathies.
- Review tendinopathies of the hand and wrist by location and determine implications for therapy.
- Choose an orthosis or treatment approach for the client with a tendinopathy.
